Remember what your mother said.

do remember when your mom said to always say please and thank you? I do. Aren’t you amazed at how many people don’t even come close to remembering this? A friend of mine, who surprised me with her lack of manners, went up to a stranger and said, “Pass me that pen on the counter.” The lady reached over handed her the pen. My friend didn’t even say thank you. When she handed the pen back to the lady, she just nudged her and said, “you can put it back down.” I could tell that the woman was taken aback by my friends rudeness. I had to say thank you on my friend’s behalf.
