Difference between High School and College Term Papers

Writing in college is completely different from writing in high school. First year college students always resist with the conversion from high school writing to college writing. High school’s learning in this regard is not enough or not much practical in college like five paragraphs scheme because college professor’s expectations are very different regarding structure and arguments. In college you are a part of scholar’s fraternity and now you are supposed to indulge in scholar activities like reading, thinking, argue and writing about great ideas. You are not required to do essays or collection of data from Yahoo or Google and represent it in your own words. College fellows are not encouraged that they repeat and repeat again older argument just to make their assignment lengthy like high school students. Your college professors provide you the context of possible research that your topic is appropriate or not. In high school writing you are assumed to fit all your ideas in that traditional five paragraph format but when it comes to college it becomes too tricky because college writing requires more provocative argument, the reader of your paper must analyze it as well as get informed. In college writing student tries to locate or search out undiscovered facts, it needs precise and direct approach towards topic.
High school essay usually have a statement and it needs to be clearly defined but a typical college assignment don’t mention the specific point but the context explains what you are trying to say and the main idea is present between the line. A college student must adopt an objective approach towards issues because your personal affiliations and sympathies should not be reflected in your academic work. Writing college papers usually have more requirements and constraints, it demands deeper perspective and critical intellect. College professors are not asking for better but some thing different, for this purpose students should divert their skills and intelligence to a new task. As a college fellow a student must be aware of the term ‘argument’, it is something less controversial and more logical. It is more like an amiable friendly conversation with someone you respect and a reader who are keenly interested in what you are discussing, no matter that someone agrees with you or not but finally impress with your claims and the way you address the topic. It is strictly observed that what is the writer’s stance in whole discussion and argumentation. But the best article or college paper is the one which completely occupies the mind of the reader; its arguments, evidence and discussion convince the reader.
A college research or term paper is argument based and requires a different level of source material. Internet has become a prominent search tool but a college student must learn to distinguish between reliable and unreliable web resources. Mostly subscribed resources contain more reliable concern material. Requirements of college term papers are different from high school, in college there are certain strict formats which has to be followed and paper with proper referencing and citations are acceptable for course in charge. This writing transition from high school to college level must be handled skillfully that it would make a student better and inspiring writer
